Boutique Camping at Electric Picnic

Hey everyone,

As mentioned in my last post I was at Electric Picnic this year and had an amazing time. I got a lot of questions over on my Snapchat (yellowpolkadotb) about the weekend  and in particular about Boutique Camping, so here’s a post that explains everything in detail. I hope you enjoy.

Until next time,

Electric Picnic is a music and arts festival that takes place in Co.Laois on the first weekend in September every year.

Tickets for the festival vary in price depending on the type of ticket you wish to purchase. You can buy a full weekend camping ticket or a day pass. A full list of tickets and prices can be found if you follow the link below. There is also a very handy installment option which allows you to pay over a few months.

My ticket was the weekend ticket that allowed entry from the Thursday evening until Monday morning. Once you pick up your wristband you can come and go as you please, which is especially useful if you want to pop into Stradbally to watch the All Ireland!

So now that you’ve sorted your ticket here comes the really fun part, the camping! If you are bringing your own tent to pitch in the camping area I would recommend doing so on Thursday evening or early Friday morning as it tends to get pretty crowded.

I avoided all of that hassle however and went Boutique. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes.

The Boutique camping area at Electric Picnic is a world of its own. If you are staying in this area you receive a wristband on arrival which allows entry.Within this area there are a few different options to choose from, all include  24 hour security, serviced toilets and showers and pamper tents with hair driers and mirrors.

The options are:

  1. Pink Moon Camping: Pre-erected tents for 2, 4 and 6 people.
  2. Festihuts: Chalet style huts.
  3. Hearthworks Tipis and Yurts. A range  of Tipis and Yurts in various sizes and with optional extras like fairy lights and rugs.
  4. Podpads. There are 7 different styles of Podpad to suit different party sizes.

Prices for all of the above can be found here:

We went with a four bed bunk Podpad. This included free charging facilities in the campsite, a tea and coffee tent and a separate pamper area. There was also electricity in our Podpad which meant we could charge our phones privately and get ready with ease. Our Podpad wristband also allowed access to the VIP Picnic Garden and Bar which I have to admit was perfect for celeb spotting.

The Podpad was probably the cutest place I have ever stayed. It was small but perfect for a weekend and even had a storage area for all of our festival gear. When the rain came it was great to have all of our stuff dry and meant we didn’t have to worry about leaks. You can book a Podpad for EP 2017 here.
