Ski Style

Hi guys,

So as some of you may know, I’ve just been on a skiing holiday. I went with Copper Face Jacks and Topflight to Arinsal, Andorra. It’s my second year going and I have to say it is one of my favourite holidays to date. I am by no means the sporty type but I really did enjoy trying my hand at skiing. It is very possible that I was worse at skiing this year than I was last year so don’t listen to any of that, it’s like riding a bike nonsense. Even still, I had an amazing time. Coppers and Topflight ensure that no matter what your level of skiing, you’re going to have a good time. This year Mark McCabe was our guest entertainment and for any Irish out there you can only imagine the response we all had to Maniac 2000! We’re talking Apres Ski at its finest. So whether it’s a party you’re after or some fun on the slopes I would really recommend this trip.

One of the hardest things I found about packing for this trip was what to wear for Apres Ski. What I’ve learned is that this is a very casual affair. Jeans and cute tops are the way to go and I say too right, we all need a break from uncomfortable dresses and heels. For the actual skiing I did the expected and picked up all my gear in Aldi and I have to say, I do not regret this. It’s not bad quality, at least not for beginner level and it actually looks good, albeit recognisable. (Spot the Irish skier!) You just need to keep a look out for when they launch their ski gear as it sells out quickly. I’ve included some pictures to give you an idea of the style I went for on this trip and the type of clothes you need to pack. Some pictures include my beautiful sister as her style was on fleek too.

In relation to make up and skincare I went for foundation and mascara during the day and brought my normal make up set for the evenings. I used Mac Studio Fix foundation as it is waterproof and really stayed on throughout the day. I used Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara.

Again, there’s no need to go overboard on this and I think fake eyelashes would look a little out of place in the Derby Irish Pub which by the way is the best place to have the craic all holiday long!

For skincare I packed a factor 50 La Roche Posay suncream, a must have during the day and a First Aid Beauty night cream to protect my sensitive skin from the wind.

Top Tip: Invest in a nice pair of sunnies and a hat to cover up a multitude after a hard day skiing. My sunnies are from River Island and my hat is old, Rihanna for River Island, possibly my best ever purchase.

All the ski gear is Aldi.

You will need: Ski jacket, ski pants, thermal leggings and thermal tops, snow boots.

I bought five thermal tops for under my jacket as these need to be changed daily. Mine are a mixture of black and pink, one with a hood. The jacket has breathable zips and numerous pockets with a little pouch for your ski pass in the sleeve. My boots are from The North Face and I actually get a lot of wear out of these even during rainy days at home.

As well as the ski jacket I also brought this Superdry Camo jacket. I absolutely love this jacket. It’s pretty casual so I don’t tend to wear it a lot at home but find it perfect for outdoor activities. It’s a wind shield and is super warm, again with lots of pockets for extra convenience and is perfect for Apres Ski. The jersey swinging from my hand is the Coppers 2016 Ski Trip jersey. Sorry guys, it’s an exclusive piece!

As it was a Copper Face Jacks trip I couldn’t go far without my Coppers’ County Colours Jersey. I slipped this on over my thermals to mix things up a bit and add an extra layer.

These last few pictures give you an idea of the Apres Ski style. It’s pretty much jeans and tops. The first picture shows one of my favourite tops ever, the Quinoa and Kale slogan tee. I got this in Urban Outfitters on sale quite recently. The final picture is of my sister Rebecca absolutely rocking that ski jumper. We both bought these last year in Urban Outfitters before the trip. It is so cute and 100% wool so perfect for that cold weather.
